Has a healthy past relationship they're over:

Lucius has these in spades. He's an extremely laid back person, able to just go with the flow when it comes to...pretty much everything, casual relationships and serious break-ups included. Sometimes this gets him accused of 'not caring' enough about his partner, which he does! He would just rather remain friends and on good terms with someone than stay in a relationship that's not working if..it's not working. Yelling and arguing in circles seems counterproductive to that to him. This outlook comes off callous to some people, however.

Anyway, this particular relationship was with Alexei - a friend of his he met when they were both hired on to the same mercenary ship. Alexei has a nose for trouble, and a bad habit for throwing himself right into the thick of it when he finds it. Sometimes this pays off (TREASURE!) other times, not so much.. (Oh, shit, the captain's dead, the first mate's gone mad, and we're stranded on an island with a murderous cannibal, shit fuck shit.) NATURALLY, this means he and Lucius just just needed to be best friends! Or, rather, when things got hectic, or just plain went south, Lucius was the person who most easily kept pace with what was happening. Alex may have sniffed out the situation, but Lucius was always the calm thinking force of reason that helped to pull them both out of it alive.

Nothing kindles a romance like being repeatedly thrown into dangerous situations for PROFIT together, right? Right, of course.

The two of them were together as a couple for just under two years when one certain bit of adventure wound up with Alex being made captain of the ship they were serving on. The two of them talked about it, and agreed that it wouldn't be good for either relationship of theirs - working or personal - if they continued dating while Lucius was technically subordinate to Alex as the captain. The break up was as amiable as it sounds, and the two remain friends all throughout their timeline, whether they're currently working together or not.

for shits and giggles: Alexei and Lucius. I was originally going to get a chibi of Lucius done in the same style as Alexei's and have the artist remove the tail, but I never got around to it. Then I figured, fuck it, it's a fantasy world and my pirate can have a cat tail /shrugs. Alex has probably sat on it before or something that jerk.
