30DC - Chat About an OC Who...
Considers themself just:
Damon Kay, also known as Dog falls under this category. It's also been a while since I did anything with or even talked about him wow. So this may be rougher/looser/worse even than most of the stuff I come up with nowadays.
Damon is a doctor, well, was a doctor. An ER surgeon, specifically. His wife, Ellen, though he was unaware of this, was 'wolf-blooded' - not a werewolf herself, but carrying the power/potential in her blood. She was aware of the existence of supernaturals, and not kept in the dark like some who have the blood but do not change are. Problem was, Ellen came from a family of shifters who despised humanity. They, while not crazy enough to go to war with the humans, hated and looked down upon humanity as parasites, etc. Ellen got sick of this pretty fucking quickly growing up and distanced herself from her family. She rarely spoke of them, never visited (especially after marrying Damon), etc. She played this off as the fact that her father hated Damon (not a lie) and that he had disowned her for choosing to be with him. (Not a lie, but not the truth.) Ellen thought that the years spent as a human, with humans, away from her birth family and supernaturals altogether would be enough to protect her family from the bullshit that the shifter clans often get up to. Well, that can't just happen now can it.
She and Damon had an argument one night, he goes out to get shitfaced with bar friends, and a pack of shifters with a grudge against Ellen's family kills her, her daughter Katie - also wolf-blooded, but without the potential to shift - and kidnaps her son, Connor - a shifter, nearing his first turn. (THIS IS an awful lot about Ellen considering it's about Damon, but mostly I feel bad that younger me fridged her and Katie to provide Damon and Connor with plot, haha...)
ANYWAY, Damon falls on Rough Times for a while - Ellen and their kids were his whole world! And no one but his best friend seems to believe him when he says Connor can't be dead - that he has to still be alive out there somewhere, no one's found his body yet, and other things that grieving parents of missing/deceased children often say. Right about this time, he's started living rough on the streets, unable to go back to their home, unable to keep living his life like normal without answers. Already long story short: while on the streets, Damon is witness to, and nearly the victim of, an attack by a supernatural monster. Gemma Trayton, a hunter, kills the thing, saves his ass, and tells Damon to drink his booze and forget the whole thing in the morning :D Damon refuses, tells her about his family, asks her if that is what could have happened to them, and basically refuses to leave her alone until she talks to him about it - admits that it's real and that he's not drunk/crazy. She fact checks his story, goes yeah looks like werewolves, and offers to let Damon hang out with her and her crew. He can be their doctor!! Patch them up when they get hurt :D Damon says fuck that, picks up an axe, and decides to get answers and find his son by helping Gemma kill things that kill humans.
So he does! Lots of things! And some of them are horrible flesh eating monsters and some of them are just not-humans trying to get by, and Damon doesn't care either way. He tortures, kills, and hunts his way across the states, chases tidbits of rumors and ghosts of packs until he finds the one that has his son. He doesn't feel regret and he doesn't feel remorse - the supernaturals started this and, until he has his and Ellen's boy back, he's going to be the one who keeps finishing it.
THIS IS SO LONG, I'M SORRY. and it's so old and awful, hahaha, oh no. I really love this guy though. I should blow the dust off him and Gemma and their friends more often. orz
pb for Damien as soon as I find him again/remember what his last name was. it's a bit awkward looking up male models on a public computer in middle of the library though. :')
